A Summa and Encyclopedia to Maria Valtorta’s Extraordinary Work
A Summa and Encyclopedia to Maria Valtorta’s Extraordinary Work
A member of the Readers’ Group (Stephen Austin) has written a popular and widely distributed e-book covering almost everything a reader could want to know about The Poem of the Man-God / The Gospel as Revealed to Me — its importance, history, ecclesiastical status, proofs of divine origin, critics and defences, and supplementary resources.

Zenit, a popular international news agency, discusses this e-book in a news article about the First International Italian Valtorta Conference, where the author of the e-book spoke. More details on this are further below.
Constantly updated, Stephen’s work has 13 chapters and 49 subchapters, introducing The Gospel as Revealed to Me to readers. The theological objections of the Church against private revelations are addressed in this e-book with a careful investigation of the approval Valtorta’s work has received from saints and prelates: Saint Padre Pio and Saint Teresa of Calcutta; Pope Pius XII; cardinals, archbishops, and bishops; 23 doctors of theology, divinity, or canon law; 16 university professors; and others.
Stephen Austin compares Valtorta’s visions with those of other mystics, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich and Venerable Mary of Agreda, noting they are less detailed and less accurate. He also emphasizes the near-complete correlation between the Gospel and the text of Viareggio’s mystic — with the difference that, compared with the 141 days of Jesus’ ministry in Sacred Scripture, there are about 500 days in The Gospel as Revealed to Me, presented in greater detail, historically valid, and enriched with unique information on botany, geography, ethnology, and astronomy.
Austin’s e-book is now known as far as Oceania and Australia, thanks to his promotional work, which included participating in an interview on the Australian TV program of a religious nature, Spirit of Life.

This Australian TV interview mentioned in the article above was aired on Australian television in February 2014. In this interview, Stephen describes his personal experiences with Maria Valtorta's writings and how it has transformed his life and the lives of many others around the world, what led him to do research on her writings, and his findings. You can view the interview below:

In March 2016, Stephen Austin and Tim Fromann did a radio show interview with Dr. Anthony Ciuffo about Valtorta and her writings, on the most listened-to show on WGBB, 1240 AM — the oldest radio station in Long Island, New York.

Correction: At 4:45 in the radio broadcast, Tim Fromann said that Maria Valtorta was a Third Order Carmelite. This was a mistake. Maria Valtorta was a member of the Third Order Servites of Mary.

"When in the 1980s I commenced reading The Poem of the Man-God, I was cautioned by overscrupulous well-wishers concerned for my spiritual welfare against reading a book which had been placed on the Index of Forbidden books. Father Anthony Pillari in Maria Valtorta's Life of Christ has banished for good and all any lingering doubts as to the orthodoxy of her visions and writings."
– Cardinal Thomas Williams, Archbishop Emeritus of Wellington, New Zealand –
"Fr. Anthony Pillari and Stephen Austin deserve to be commended for this precious work which will, God willing, open up for the Church the great treasure that is The Poem of the Man-God. Valtorta's great work, like St. Louis de Montfort's priceless True Devotion to Mary, has been a hidden treasure at times despised and rejected even by those in the Church. With the witness of these saints who have profited from Valtorta's incredible insights into the life of Christ, may the whole Church awaken to the riches of an intimate knowledge of the life and times of Our Lord."
– John-Henry Westen, Editor in Chief and Co-Founder of LifeSiteNews –
"Fr. Pillari and Stephen Austin's text on The Poem of the Man-God makes clear the canonical legitimacy for all faithful Catholics to read and appreciate this great mystical work. The positive spiritual discernment of St. Teresa of Calcutta and other recently declared 'Blesseds' of the Church testify to its inspiring and authentic contents. The sublime Mariological theme of Mary as the 'Co-redemptrix' with and under Jesus, the divine Redeemer, accurately embodies the best and richest Mariology of the last millennium. Rather than a threat to Scripture reading, The Poem makes the superior Word of God come alive and move souls to repentance, conversion, and peace. The time has come for the Poem of the Man-God to be universally appreciated as the contemporary mystical classic that it is. Thank you, Fr. Pillari and Stephen Austin for this outstanding articulation and defense of the pearls of The Poem for today."
– Dr. Mark Miravalle, S.T.L., S.T.D., Chair of Mariology at Ave Maria University, president of the International Marian Association, and professor of Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville –
